A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM
Martha Rivera and Kyle Huhtanen To All Friends of Mission Predisan

As many of you know, Honduras is experiencing political unrest, and we wanted to pass along what we know at present, and assure you that Predisan is doing everything possible to ensure the safety and well-being of our visitors and staff.

Honduran president Jose Manuel Zelaya, was deposed yesterday (Sunday, June 28) by the military and flown to Costa Rica. The Congress of Honduras immediately voted to remove Zelaya from office, and named Roberto Micheletti, the head of the Congress, as provisional president.

The situation in Tegucigalpa and the country is now stable, but tense. The U.S. Embassy has issued a message that all non-essential travel to Honduras be deferred until further notice. Some demonstrations and disturbances are occurring in the area of the Presidential palace, and a curfew is in effect.

Observers stress that the situation may calm down and come to nothing - but also say a chief cause of concern is the support of Zelaya by President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and other leftist leaders in the region.

One volunteer group from Oklahoma is working in the mountains this week, and plans are underway to bring them back to the U.S. as soon as space is available on coming flights. A group from Atlanta due to travel to Honduras on Thursday, July 2 has cancelled its trip. A group from Searcy, Ark., set to arrive on Friday, July 3 is monitoring the news and will decide the day before their scheduled departure.

However, if you have a trip planned to Predisan later in the summer, please do not cancel your trip at this time, and we will be in close touch about developments as they occur. Predisan has made extensive plans for your groups, as have the communities or clinics you will serve, and we hope and pray those plans can go forward for the benefit of all. Our primary concern, though, of course, is for the safety of all who work with us on behalf of those in need in Honduras.

As for some brief background on this situation, the ousting of President Zelaya resulted from his efforts to call a referendum on Sunday that could have led to changing the constitution of Honduras. His efforts are viewed as an attempt to procure a longer term in office, beyond January 2010 when his term ends.

The Honduran Supreme Court ruled that the referendum was not legal, but Zelaya continued with his efforts to hold the election, resulting in his being deposed. Observers say what is happening is not a true coup, but an attempt by Honduran leaders to ensure a democratic government for Honduras. Coverage of these events is available on all major news outlets.

We sincerely ask your prayers for our staff, our current visitors and for their families as they return to the U.S., and for the people of Honduras. We will update you as the political situation develops and the outcome becomes clearer.

Thank you for all the ways you show your love and concern for Mission Predisan!

Please pray for us,

Martha Rivera, Executive Director

Greetings!

The question of the day is, "What in the world is going on in Honduras?"  There are so many reports going around it's hard to know what's going on but I thought that I would take a few minutes to give you a report from where we are in rural southern Honduras.
On Saturday night I sent a sincere email to the group leaders who are planning on bringing groups to Mission Lazarus later this summer.  The general gist was not to worry, nothing is going to happen.  I wrote that email from my nice hotel room in the capital city of Tegucigalpa.  I awoke the next morning to the sound of fighter jets over heard, helicopters, and as I looked out my hotel window there was an enormous plume of smoke rising in the distance with the Marriott Hotel and the Presidential Palace in the background.  Soon tanks and armored vehicle would move down the streets.  I could not believe what I was seeing.  The email I had sent only hours before said not to worry and here I stood, witnessing the decay of a civilized democracy before my eyes.  I was also concerned with the 35 Americans that were with me that I needed to get to the airport.  The group did get to the airport and was able to return home and I was able to make the 3.5 hour trek back to San Marcos de Colon.  That journey was awkward; no traffic on the road at all, numerous military check points had been installed with armored vehicles and tanks.
New reports call it a military coup.  I don't think that's real accurate.  The national congress and the Supreme Court of Honduras ruled last week that the president's actions were illegal.  The congress voted for the president to be arrested and he was.  And per the nations constitution the next in power was the president of congress, Roberto Michelleti.  Last night Michelleti was sworn into office to finish the remaining 6 months of the former president's term.  The term military coup usually lends itself to a military general who wants to take over a country as a dictator.  That did not happen.  The congress has to power to remove a president, just as we have that power through impeachment in the US.  That is what the Honduras government did.  As a matter of fact, the new president Michelleti, is even from the same political party as the ousted president, Manuel Zelaya.
So, what happens now.  Hopefully nothing.  There were some protests in the streets of Tegucigalpa yesterday and into the night.  Heavy rains helped to diminish their effects.  The ousted Zelaya is now in Nicaragua in a meeting with his socialist supporting presidents from the Americas, Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua, Raul Castro of Cuba, Evo Morales of Boliva, and Rafael Correa of Ecuador.  Hugo Chavez, the ring leader of this group has said that he would do whatever it takes to see that Zelaya is returned to power in Honduras.  There were even rumors of an invasion of Honduras.  We do know that there has been a build-up of troops on the Nicaraguan border.  In response Honduras fortified her border yesterday as well.  The summit meeting of these leader today in Managua will determine what the outcome of this political standoff will be.  It appears to me that Hugo Chavez wants Zelaya back in power in Honduras more than the people of Honduras do.  President Obama was very careful with his words stating that the US did not agree with the manner in which Zelaya was removed from office.  I hope that does not mean that they support what this man has done in Honduras and what he wants to do.  As of last night there were rumors that Obama had said that he would send US troops if Honduras was invaded by Nicaraguan or Venezuelan troops.

What are we doing?  We made frantic flight changes this morning and sent the 60 folks who arrived in Honduras Friday back to the capital to get on afternoon flights to the US.  Why?  Not because the situation is very dangerous now, it's really not that dangerous, but rather because no one knows what will happen.  No one knows if the airport could get shut down in the next few days.  Or perhaps nothing happens and this was all a bunch of talk.  I hope and pray that we have over reacted by sending the groups home but as the old Spanish saying goes, "The man who takes precautions is worth 2 men!"

We have many groups scheduled to come in this summer.  What does that mean for you guys?  What does that mean for the Lord's work in Honduras?  Satan would love to take advantage of this situation to mess up the plans of many Christians this summer.  We have spent thousands of dollars on supplies for groups and have spent countless hours getting prepared.  However, we also want to air on the side of safety.  At this time we ask all groups to keep their options open.  Don't run to cancel your plans.  This week will be a very important week to see what will happen here.  We plan on keeping all group leaders up to date on developments as they come available.  I hope that you all can calm the fears of friends and family and stand by and see what God decides will happen this summer.  Our group of American missionaries, along with the local men and women who serve with us daily, will not be going anywhere.  We are here to serve the Honduran people. You can also follow updates on our blog, www.missionlazarus.org .  We'll be posting there throughout the day.  Thanks again for your prayers during this time of turmoil.

Believer's Ministry India Report
Pastor Rao

A FAITH FILLED TRUE STORY OF HOW GOD CAN REDEEM VIOLENT MEN!

Brother the God is so grate and he as been helping us for the past 23 years and I am always depending on the God, he is our provider. I am sharing one life experiences with you.

Brother you have shared

I here with sending the Testimony of Mr. RAGHAVA RAO he is idol worshiper and he used to call the evil sprits that enabled to predicting the future and collecting the money from the people, not only that the entire Villagers and all others also have the fear when he was walking on the road all the people have grate fear. They believe he will send the evils and create the sickness for the cause of the death. He was staying by the side of River Krishna and living in the small hut, this hut was full of idols filled with turmeric and red powder (Yellow and read powder), bones, lemon, hens all other idol worship material, he is allways speaking with evils and telling several things to the people and enchasing their weakness. He has been doing this tradition for the past several years and created lot of problems to the people, not only that but he has been creating several problems for newly converted Christians, because he was totally against to the Lord. They had several fears, beliefs and. Whenever the person was accepted the Lord Jesus immediately he visits that person and says several lies creates problems and he will try to push back.

Recently we have organized good news festival and conducted 2 days meetings in this Village. One person was accepted the Lord, this person was the relative of this Raghava Rao. He went to that person and said to him, if you are accepted that Christian God, or going to Church you may die, the evils has told me we are going to kill you. So this person was went back and doing the idol worship. I visited this village after one week and I have enquired about this newly accepted person, they said this story. I was depressed and prayed for him. But the Holy God sayings go and meet this Raghava Rao. I said to our people please show me that place I want to meet him. The others said sir please don’t go there he was so crude fellow he may create several problems to you and for us also. I have tried to meet him but our members are not allowing me to go there. I was return to my home and praying for him, but the Holy God has been saying you are disobeying my word. I was cried and not slept on that night.

The next day Morning I am in the room and reading the Bible and praying, the Holy God has been shown and forcing me to read the Acts 16:16.at the time of reading my body was shaken with the power of Holy God, all hair on my body was tighten. I was cried and asked God forgive me. So I prayed and decided to meet this person, I went to his place at that time he was worshiping with evils. I have little bit fear in my heart even thou I want to meet him, when I reached his place he was so angry and with loud voice he asked me are you Pastor Rao? I said yes Brother I am Pastor Rao. He was so angry and I am not your Brother. What to do you want? I said please kindly spare few mints, I would like to speak the love of God. He said I know and have been worshiping with several Gods.  I don’t want to hear any thing pleas get out from this place. Again I requested him, please permit me to share my life experience, he was not allowing me to speak any thing on that day. I came back to my place.

I am praying and said to God, Lord I have obeyed and went to his place but he was not allowing me to say any thing. The Holy God has been saying again you go and meet him. So I have been paying for two days and on Monday early in the morning I went to his place. I wished him he was so angry and shouted why are you coming again? I said the God is telling me to go and meet you, who is your God? Tell me which God was sending you? I have been worshiping with millions of gods. I said only one God, who was created this world the same God is living you. He said I don’t want to hear any thing about your God you get lost. I requested him please allow me to share my life experiences how my God has changed my life. I am sorry I don’t have time to hear all these stories please go.

I stood few minutes and return and I sat on my car and praying, God please don’t send me without sharing the good news. I sat in my car and praying after 2 hours one of his servants came and told my sir is calling you. I am so happy and went back he was used so much bad words and he was so angry. He asked me how many times warn you. I requested him sir please allow me to share my testimony he told me I have given you 15 mints time you have to finish what you want to share with me.I spent few minutes with God, requested the Holy Sprit kindly speak and prepare his heart to hear and see the real God.

He stood in front of his house, seriously he told me tell me what are you going to share things, but if you criticize my gods I will not spare you. So I have begun to sharing my testimony and how I was spending with these idols what I have received. He asked me are Hindu converted person? Yes I am Hindu my father was Hindu priest, you can enquire about me and past life. He said you are spoiling the entire society and converting people in to Christianity? I said no it is totally misunderstood, we are not doing, we showing the correct and right way, this not story, this 100% my life experiences.

I briefly shared word of God from GENESIS 1:27 to 31 and 2:21 to 25.  .JOHN 1:1 to 5th verses. He heard these passages, (my heart was so happy because I have planted the seeds so the rest of the work will be dun by the Holy God) He said you can go; you don’t try to come back. I said thank you sir you have hear about my living God, you know still the same God is living you, I return to my place, I have received phone call from local believer Pastor why you have met him? He is so dangerous person and he will create several problems though his evil power. I sad Brother we have Almighty and power full God not only one place he is having the power on earth and haven, don’t worry please remember him in your prayers. I have requested all our Pastors and Believes please pray for him.

After six Moths he was sick, he was paralyzed, he met the several doctors and hospitals but no recovery no improvement. After one Month 6+1=75 Moths one of his follower said to him, sir shall I call any Pastor to pray for you? Because I have been hearing from the people the Christians God is healing the sick people. He said to his follower, you may call Pastor Rao. I have received phone call from him, in the mean time we have been praying, but we don’t have any information about his sickness.

We have pasting and prayed on that night and I went in the Morning he was so sick and very lean.  I am unable speak any thing, he cried slowly telling me these idols are going to kill me, I have fear on death. I said several Gods words and prayed more than /2day and return. After 2 days he committed his life and accepted the Lord as his personal savior. He left all the idols destroyed his place burnt with the fire and he moved to another place. Now he is on the bed. Can you imagine this? Yes this is the power of the God. Amen.

Yours in Christ,

Rao

I am here with sending prayer request; please pray for these poorest of the poor people of this area.

THE LIVING CONDITIONS OF THE SCHEDULED TRIBE FAMILIES;

THIS IS REAL LIFE STORY OF 16 SHEDULED TRIBS (ERUKALA) FAMILIES;

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The God reveals His heart through the Scripture. From the first verses of Genesis to the last verses of revelation, His intention is articulated and illustrated. The wonder of it all is that He wants to accomplish this mission through the faithfulness of people like you and me.

In Mathew 16: 24 to 27 Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'If anyone wants to come with me, he must forget self, carry his cross, and follow me. For whoever wants to save his own life will lose it: but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Will a person gain anything if he wins the whole world but loses his life? Of course not! There is nothing he can give to regain his life. For the Son of Man is about to come in the glory of his Father with his angles, and he will reward each one according to his deeds.

THE LIVING CONDITION OF THESE FAMILIES:

We have identified 16 families of Scheduled Tribes called Erukala, communities. These 16 families are living near by the Akumarru this village is more than 9 KM from the Machilipatnam, they belongs to Scheduled Tribes name is Erukala. These families are living on this canal bund for the past 10 years, you can see how they are living on this  canal and living in the small hut, this hut was made with waste materials an average two to three families 4 to 5 members will living together in this small hut. They do not have any assets except their hands; their living condition is hand to mouth, no education, no land, no proper food, living in un-hygienic conditions. This living place (canal bund) is the center of the tow major irrigation canals, from July to February these 2 canals will full of water will flow to the lands. Several small children were fallen and died.   They know to leading days without taking food. The miserable situation is if they want to fill their fill their stomach there is no proper drinking water, they used to drink from this canal. This canal will carry the several dead bodies’ lot of waste materiel. They are leading their life in miserable conditions. During this summer, heat was reached up to 48 degrees (centigrade) even thou they are living in these small huts with several small children and older people.

Scheduled Tribes whose homeland is India were made refugees in their own land by the aggressive invasion of the Aryans. The intruders robbed S T who had maintained their own unique culture and heritage. Even up to this day, they are the modern day slaves and holocaust victims through the cruelest system of the caste. These people have been suffering humiliation, martyrdom and unspeakable horror for the last several decades of our human history.  Does the world know about this man-made tragedy?  At the dawn of this millennium, who has to bring the good news of freedom and hope to the millions of voiceless people? The upper caste men and women have been traveling comfortably at the cost of these people. It is at the sweat of these poor peasants, the landlords and other caste people have amassed wealth. In short, in the name of God, these ST people were cheated and continuing to be cheating.

As we have already seen, S T means 'broken, scattered and oppressed'.  So the S T is the broken and scattered people, the oppressed masses. This implies that they were of one community before they were broken; they were together before they were scattered; they were free people before they were oppressed. It also implies that there must have been an agent and an instrument by whom and by which this free people were subjugated and oppressed. So the starting point of Scheduled Tribes (Erukala people) history is the moment when this 'breaking', 'scattering' and 'oppression’ of the Scheduled Tribes( Erukala people) began, when exactly the Scheduled Tribes( Erukala people) began to be treated as degraded human beings and when exactly the Scheduled Tribes(Erukala people) lost their identity. To understand the Scheduled Tribes (Erukala people) as an indigenous people, we need to go to their historical roots.

Generally these Erukala people are the poorest of the poor in the sate, they do not have any property expect one pair of clothe one or two vessels for cooking and only one mat that is their property, not having good health, no proper food, no clothing and children also living in pathetic conditions, actually I am un-able to describe their sufferings. They lived under the trees, by the side and canal bunds and by the side drainages that to faraway from the  village, the high cast people are not allowing them to stay with in the village, they have to walk miles together to enter the village that’s way these children have been loosing their education. I can say deliberately they are totally depending up on the mercy of others.

The Women have been collecting the waste combing hair from the villagers and they will make deferent types of wigs those who have not much and long hair, they will sell this to the high caste women. Men will colleting the used cloths from the villagers and they will make it small pieces and sell to the auto workers for cleaning the vehicles. These children will collecting the waste food from the villagers and eat it. You know how much amount they receive from the villagers? they will pay Rupees 100/- per month, this men have to work at least 6 hours per day they may get 100 Indian rupees per Month, it is equal to $.2/-  You can see how they are cheating these Erukala people.

The women also have to wakeup at 4 am and reach the village to do the cleaning, sweeping, washing what not they have to do ever thing. Then these high cast people may give them last night left over food, they have take this food and feed their children and older people, this left rover food is for their lunch.

They have requested and begged several government officers, political and local leaders for small peace of house site, they want to live safe place, they have requested only 50 square yards. But these people are not able to get at least one foot of house site. The high cast People is not willing to stay in the Village. We have conducted the door to door survey for these families, the total population is 45 including the children, and can you believe no one have the education. My heart was full of sorrow about their living conditions.

These families are very good believers and leading their live on faith. They are committed and have deep zeal to over come from this situation. They need shelter, they need child education, and they need help to overcome and leading the normal life. Please pray for these families please kindly pray for these poorest of the poor families. You can see these children are eating the cakes I have distributed and I asked have you tasted before. All these Children said we never saw this and not tasted at this movement. And small kids also working along with their parents you can see these children and pray for their better future. May God bless you.

Dear M300 Ministries

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, thank you so much for your kind letter and prayers. Brother by the grace of God and with the help of Holy God we have been fully engaged in His work and spreading the heavenly seeds on this land. We are in the summer season and this is the good time and climate to organize open Gospel meetings in the Villages, because the people are free no field work (Agricultural work). The Holy God has been helping to organize these meetings. The God has touched the hearts of the people and 72 families had accepted the Lord as their personal savior and they are fully idol worshippers they thrown their idols and surrenders their lives to our God. Amen.

Brother I have written two letters, but I have not received reply from you and all our pastors and the believers have been praying for you, we never forget you and your ministry and we have been asking to God to build the good friendship and fellowship in the God.

I am preparing the DVD for our last year brief note I will send you by post.

Your brother in Christ,

Pastor Rao

I wanted to share these thoughts with you purely for the fun of it. A friend named Charlie Walton once wrote some mission trip axioms, about 20 years ago, on a mission trip that we went on.  They stuck in my head for years, so I thought it would be fun to come up with some regarding the Truett McConnnell and SWBTS Mission Trip to Thailand a couple of weeks ago.
By the way..take no offense in any of these as they are meant to spark memories and to be funny.

Matt took this picture of an ancient Buddhist temple with a modern day monk?

50 Thailand Mission Trip Axioms:
“YOU MAY HAVE WENT ON A MISSION TRIP TO CHIANGMAI, THAILAND IF…”

44). You may have went on a mission trip to Chiangmai, Thailand if you tried to purchase an English, Thai Bible only to find that they are scarce and not offered for sale much.

45). You may have went on a mission trip to Chiangmai, Thailand if third floor down from the pool means anything particular to you.

46). You may have went on a mission trip to Chiangmai, Thailand if you endured malicious attacks by mosquitoes just to keep up on your Facebook account every night.

47). You may have went on a mission trip to Chiangmai, Thailand if you learned that “Blended Truth” is not “Truth” but is a suicidal spiritual mix and a deception of great magnitude.

48). You may have went on a mission trip to Chiangmai, Thailand if you found that there is no safe way to guess how old Thai and Asian females are…(Best guess minus 10 is the best formula)

49). You may have went on a mission trip to Chiangmai, Thailand if you learned that American eat twice as much as we should resulting in twice as many health problems as Asians.

50). You may have went on a mission trip to Chiangmai, Thailand if one of your most serious and pressing questions to a monk was, “How do you guys sit for so long with your legs crossed? “ Only to get a chuckle and an indication that if Buddhism were to take hold in America it would have to adapt to adherents in the USA sitting on stools.
