Blockchain technology’s biggest advantage, undoubtedly, is its decentralization.   • Kademlia: Using an industry-specific protocol, dubbed Kademlia, clients and hosts can locate, contact and communicate over a highly encrypted channel, making eavesdropping and illegal access of data or communication impossible. New nodes who join the network only require to have access to selected seed nodes and can pull up information about the other nodes so as to join the network easily. Nodes are further then grouped into clusters, allowing them to develop higher-level structures and increase the data communication speed.
  • Merkle Tree: Using an advanced end to end encryption called the Merkle Tree, data disclosure to unauthorized people is made impossible. Since complete data is not stored on one node or replicated across the cluster, this is increasingly important as any malicious individual or organization can take advantage of it. When accessing data, a client will need to query multiple nodes within the cluster and the chances of manipulation of one node means the whole cluster being compromised. Merkle Tree makes sure this downs not happen.
  • Blockchain As A Master Ledger: Fluence primarily works independently of the blockchain system it deploys. The only usage of the chain is to store important information such as contracts, cluster information, and reward distribution. This means that it is blockchain agnostic. There is no load created on the network and thus achieves higher levels of speed, number of transactions and clients active on the chain.

Data Storing on Fluence

When a user on the network wants to store data, he or she must first create a contract, specifying the terms involved, such as the volume, type of data and how much is the client willing to pay for the storage rent. If a node finds the contract acceptable, it can respond with an approval of the contract terms.

The client then needs to have enough nodes accepting the terms so that the data storage and security is reliable through decentralization. Once this is done, the client adds information about all the nodes within the contract body, allowing blockchain to know where the data will be stored. With this information entered, the contract can be finally executed, signed by the user’s private key to ensure security.
