Papa Ron Cyphers

When I first approached Dianna about a page for her and Ron, she
told me to keep it minimal, as the focus should be on the orphanage.
 And while I agree with her on the direction of the web page, I think
there is a lot of value in talking about two people that I personally
call heroes.  

   That reminds me of a couple of years ago when a  "Christian"
radio station in our area was asking people to call in and tell them
what celebrities they have ever talked to or seen up close.  I
couldn't call but I did send them an email.  I told them the world's
celebrities are not important in that sense.  Then I told them that my
celebrities or heroes were David & Sarah Dirrim.  I now include Ron
& Dianna on that list.

  OK, back to Ron & Dianna...

  Ron is from West Virgina.  He is legally blind, although he can see
some shapes and can even read with the help of a very strong
magnifier.  He is trained as a school teacher and administrator.  That
led to jobs for the US Government serving those that are blind and
deaf.  

  They have had about 150 foster kids over the last 40 years of their
marriage.  Yea, you read that right, 150!  And most of them were
special needs kids!  In addition to the foster kids, they had 2
children of their own, Walter and Amber.  Walter is career Navy and
Amber is an accomplished artist.  Both are very proud of their mom
and dad.  

  They were in Louisiana just before coming to Haiti.  They had
planned to go to Honduras to help build an orphanage, but God had
other ideas!  They were selected in 2001by the Ada elders to go Haiti
as the orphanage administrators.  Their original commitment was for
2 years.  God also changed that as now it's 10!
