Let me introduce myself!

I'm Chaplain, Major (ret), USAF, David Cannon.  Actually, I retired from the USAF a year and a half ago, but still serve part-time as a chaplain to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  I spent my military career working with and ministering to the Lord's people from all walks of life.  And my mission has not changed!  I'd like to offer my services to the great people of faith connected with Mighty 300 Ministries.  If I can serve you as a chaplain in any capacity, please feel free to contact me.  May the name of Jesus Christ be lifted up through Mighty 300 Ministries, and be a blessing to His kingdom all over the world!

  •  - Led pastoral response effort to three plane crashes totaling 19 deaths, 20 injuries; averted suicide crisis for young mother with two preschool-aged children, restored hope

Williams AFB, AZ (undergraduate pilot training base), June 1991 to May 1993

  •  - nurtured a demoralized base population facing installation closure, provided strong pastoral support

Hickam AFB, HI (Pacific Air Command Headquarters), June 1993 to May 1997

  •  - administered $7.2K annual fiscal activity; first-ever chaplain training to women's abuse shelter staff
  •  - grew ailing Contemporary Worship Service from 25 to 125; seized growth opportunity with relocation
  •  - requested by name at Family Support Center to provide "change management" retiree training
  •  - restored trauma victims to productive lives using critical incident stress training; conducted debriefings  after two suicides, a flightline death, and 12 traumatized first-responders to USS Cole explosions

Walter Reed Army Medical Center (Clinical Pastoral Education), June 1997 to May 1998

  •   - provided quality pastoral care to 50 acute care and outpatient care patients daily
  •   - "His creative ministry to same-day surgery patients sets the standard for those who follow him."

  •   - Wrote chapel prototype for helping professionals web page; received Surgeon General recognition
  •   - Supervised four chaplains giving pastoral care to Pentagon/Arlington area; providing four worship
       
    services and standing up new Contemporary Protestant worship service, first-time singles outreach

Brooks AFB, TX (international school of medicine/research facility), August 2001 to June 2003

  •   - Produced singular chapel status of "outstanding support team" in base inspection
  •   - Supervised/mentored two young chaplains, preparing them for promotion to higher rank and leadership

Maxwell AFB, AL (Air University--resident training for USAF, USAF Reserve, and Air National

  Guard military education), July 2003 to present

  •  - Served as executive officer to wing chaplain, coordinating/managing administration of overall chapel
  •  - As lead Protestant Chaplain, responsible for annual ministry to over 25,000 Air University students
  •  - Strengthened world-wide Air Force chaplain effectiveness as adjunct "helping professionals" instructor for Chaplain Service Institute
  •  - Achieved "master trainer" status in two-day suicide intervention seminar; delivered 14 workshops
